While nearly 95% of women report the need to change personal titles like “doryeonnim”, “seobangnim” and “agassi”, 43% of men claim to be okay with the status quo. When faced with the question of what to use instead, about 60% of women suggested “bunam” or “buje,” which are equivalent to the titles used by men “cheonam” or “cheoje”, meaning one’s brother or sister-in-law. Both men and women were split nearly down the middle when it came to the use of actual names. 54% of women and 53.3% of men supported using proper monikers.
